LEAD Academy: Mini-Certificates for County and City Supervisors

LEAD-Academy-Postcard-july2020-1LEAD Academy is a collaborative partnership among the League of Minnesota Cities, Sourcewell, and the Association of Minnesota Counties. Through our joint efforts, we are excited to provide this program through Metropolitan State University at a significant savings. Created with member input, it is designed specifically for supervisors in local government – blending the art and skills of supervision supported by tailored case studies.

Now completely online due to COVID-19, LEAD Academy covers useful topics with strategies and skills to apply right away in a highly engaging online classroom.

Time to Lead (Three-day workshop series/Mini-certificate)

If you are “getting started” with supervising others, join this online workshop series that is a consistent favorite among county and city leaders. Metropolitan State University’s LEAD Academy will invite you to explore three topics, including: Strengths-based Leadership, Channeling Change, and Leading through Conflict. This interactive series includes many opportunities to connect with others. (CEUs available)

Human Resources Essentials (Three-day workshop series/Mini-certificate)

Managing Up and Out (Three-day workshop series/Mini-certificate)

If you are seeking to increase your supervisory influence when important decisions need to be made, consider this interactive online workshop series from Metropolitan State University’s LEAD Academy. You will explore ways to address ethical issues with others; enhance relationships -- even when everyone is virtual; and, lead stakeholders through times of change. (CEUs available)

During LEAD Academy, you will:

  • Explore opportunities to interact with other local government organizations to build collaborative relationships.
  • Work through situations and scenarios for supervisors to practice root cause analysis and risk assessment on possible solutions.
  • Hear from instructors with a variety of experiences including: leading in local government, supervising staff, and managing change, projects, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Discover practical information you can start using right away.
