  • State-Created Innovation Group Reports Now Available 3/30/11
Following presentations by State Auditor Rebecca Otto and former Commissioner of the Office of Enterprise Technology during the Local Government Legislative Conference on March 24, end of year reports for all of the state-created innovation workgroups are now available at the AMC REDESIGN Project webpage.  Reports by the Commission on Service Innovation, Collaborative Governance Council, and Local Results and Accountability Workgroup all provide initial ideas and commentary on how to best advance innovation in state and local government throughout Minnesota.  Finally, AMC thanks the commissioners and staff that specifically participated in each workgroup during the past year as representatives of the county perspective; the initial groundwork these groups laid provides counties with additional support for future innovative efforts (example: AMC’s forthcoming MAGIC Act bill).    Please contact Ryan O’Connor, AMC REDESIGN Project Coordinator, with any questions about the past, ongoing or future work of these state-created innovation workgroups.

  • Local Government Guide to Innovation Released 3/30/11
Following a six-month joint effort between counties, cities, schools, the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute and the McKnight foundation, the Local Government Guide to Innovation is now officially available.  The Guide, currently housed on the League of Minnesota’s website, provides useful and implementable ideas and examples about how to best incent and embrace innovation in communities throughout the state.  The official AMC-LMC-MSBA letter announcing the public unveiling of the guide further describes plans to utilize this guide to an increasing degree in the months ahead, and all AMC members are encouraged to read the short introduction section in the next month so that they are familiar with the Guide’s topics and intended uses before future workshop opportunities are announced.  AMC especially thanks the commissioners and staff that took time out of their busy schedule to serve on the project steering committee during the past summer and fall.
