Technical
Support |
|
|
Agency, Counties or Groups involved in the process: |
School district, city, and hospital. |
|
Why did you collaborate on this effort? |
The county could not afford its own full time technical
support personnel. Contracts with other entities for a portion of the time
would make such a position feasible. |
|
Keys to success / challenges / lessons learned / advice to
others: |
Necessity. |
|
What have been the outcomes to-date? |
Need an anchor "tennant". For us it was the
school. Need to have a contract that caps your costs. |
|
Resources: |
We have shared a Technical Support Specialist with these
entities for over two years with the county paying for less than 40% of the
employee's cost. The balance has been covered by our partnering entitites. It
has been so successful that we recently hired a full time Web Development
Specialist who we are sharing with the same entities on a similar contractual
basis. We are building some depth to the department that will also help cover
vacation/sick time in the future. |
