ACTION ALERT UPDATE

Targeted Case Management fix

Please call Representatives Kline and Bachman TODAY to urge them to support HR5613.  This bill is up in Congress on the House floor today, April 23.

National taxpayer organizations are threatening members of the House of Representatives with a “legislative scorecard threat.”  The Minnesota Republicans therefore need to hear from counties and other stakeholders that we are watching this vote closely, that this bill is of utmost importance to us, and that we expect their vote in support today.  You should mention that the House has included fiscal offsets to this bill.

The Targeted Case Management bill, HR 5613, would prevent the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid from implementing seven new Medicaid regulations.  This would allow counties to continue drawing federal funds for some social services that would otherwise be disallowed and prevent severe cuts or shifts to local property taxes.  All House Democrats support this bill, but it requires 2/3 majority, so Republican support is also needed.  The Minnesota Republican delegation has cosponsored this provision in a different bill.

Again, please urge the Members to support H.R. 5613.
