Why did you collaborate on this effort?

Met over two years to assess the condition of current city and county facilities, including county public service departments, city library and senior center; to assess current and future city and county needs; and develop a recommendation focused on creating a joint city/county facility that would incorporate sharing spaces.

Keys to success / challenges / lessons learned / advice to others:

Financial savings - for example, both have need for meeting spaces that could be fulfilled by a joint space that is better utilized

Better service - "one stop shopping" - for example, seniors who come to senior dining could also stop at Public Health for blood pressure check, or at Veteran Services, or at Library.

What have been the outcomes to-date?

Although there have been many challenges to the project for various reasons, there seems to be general consensus that the city and county working together is a good idea.

Why did you collaborate on this effort?

Meeker County's Joint Law Enforcement Center is also is home for the Litchfield Police Department. The County dispatches for all law enforcement agencies in the County at this facility.
