About NACo Steering Committees

v  Current Minnesota Steering Committee Members

NACo steering committees annually review and make recommendations on issues and legislation. The policy development process initiated by the steering committees leads to the publication of the American County Platform, which NACo uses as a guide to deliver the county government message to the Administration, Congress and the American public.

NACo has eleven steering committees:

1.       Agriculture and Rural Affairs

2.       Community and Economic Development

3.       Environment, Energy and Land Use

4.       Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs

5.       Health

6.       Human Services and Education

7.       Justice and Public Safety

8.       Labor and Employment

9.       Public Lands

10.   Telecommunications and Technology

11.   Transportation

There can be only two county officials from a single county on any one steering committee, and only a total of eight from the entire state on any one steering committee

Appointments are made by the incoming president-elect after the Annual Conference in July of each year.  Please note that this process is separate from the NACo President-elect’s leadership appointments process.
